How to add a poll to Wix

You want a question on a Wix page and you would rather the answers were not locked inside the Wix dashboard. Embeds keep your data portable. If you move off Wix later, the question, the tally and the history come with you because they were never inside Wix.

The short answer

Nothing built into Wix does this job, so every route means adding something. A hosted embed is the quickest of them: one line, about two minutes, no plugin to maintain and no monthly fee on the free tier.

Your three options

RouteWhat it means
What Wix gives youWix has poll elements in its app market. They live in the Wix editor and report into the Wix dashboard.
A dedicated app or pluginA Wix app. Convenient because it needs no embed at all; the results stay inside Wix, so getting them anywhere else is on you.
A hosted embedOne line of code you paste once. The question, the design and the counting live with the service, so there is nothing to install, update or maintain. This is what VANE it is.

All three work. The right one depends on whether you need a full survey tool or a single question answered well. If it is the second, the embed is faster to set up and lighter on the page.

The two-minute version

Wix

Nothing here needs a developer. If you can add a block to a page, you can do all of it.

What you do
  1. Write the question and the options you want counted. Keep it to one question. That is the whole trick.
  2. Copy the line the dashboard gives you. It is the same line for every placement. The question, the design and the counting all live with us.
  3. Open the page in Wix, add an Embed HTML element where it belongs, paste, and publish.
  4. Load the page and vote once yourself. Your own tap appears in the dashboard within a second, which is how you know it is wired up.

Add → Embed Code → Embed HTML, then paste. Drag it where you want it like any other element.

What visitors see

Did it work? A small hex button sits where you pasted the line. Tapping it opens your question, the visitor picks an option, and the running result appears immediately. No reload, no login, no email.

When not to use us

A Wix app lives natively in the editor and needs no embed. If you never intend to leave Wix, that convenience is real and worth weighing.

We would rather tell you that here than have you find out after setting it up. If that describes what you need, the app or plugin route in the table above is the better call.

Common questions

Will it sit inside an iframe?

Wix wraps Embed elements in an iframe, so the open-card placement is the one to use there. For a trigger that floats in the corner of the browser window, paste the snippet under Settings, then Custom code, set to Body - end; on our free-plan test site that went live within a minute.

Can I resize the embed box?

Yes, drag it like any element. Give it a little more height than the vane needs so nothing is clipped when the card opens.

Does it work on the mobile editor?

Yes, and Wix keeps a separate mobile layout, so check the embed box size there too.

Does it need a premium Wix plan?

Embed HTML is available on Wix free sites, though a free site carries Wix branding. Check their current terms, as they change this from time to time.
