How to add a poll to Webflow

You want a question on the page and you do not want to build a counting mechanism to support it. The hard part of a poll is never the interface, it is the tally: storing answers, counting them, showing the result back, stopping one person voting fifty times.

The short answer

Nothing built into Webflow does this job, so every route means adding something. A hosted embed is the quickest of them: one line, about two minutes, no plugin to maintain and no monthly fee on the free tier.

Your three options

RouteWhat it means
What Webflow gives youWebflow has no poll component. You can design the interface with interactions in an afternoon, but you would still have nowhere to store and count the answers.
A dedicated app or pluginBuilding it properly with a form, Logic and a CMS collection. Total control and it lives in your own CMS, at the cost of real build time and ongoing maintenance.
A hosted embedOne line of code you paste once. The question, the design and the counting live with the service, so there is nothing to install, update or maintain. This is what VANE it is.

All three work. The right one depends on whether you need a full survey tool or a single question answered well. If it is the second, the embed is faster to set up and lighter on the page.

The two-minute version

Webflow

Nothing here needs a developer. If you can add a block to a page, you can do all of it.

What you do
  1. Write the question and the options you want counted. Keep it to one question. That is the whole trick.
  2. Copy the line the dashboard gives you. It is the same line for every placement. The question, the design and the counting all live with us.
  3. Open the page in Webflow, add an Embed element where it belongs, paste, and publish.
  4. Load the page and vote once yourself. Your own tap appears in the dashboard within a second, which is how you know it is wired up.

Drop an Embed element where the question belongs, or add it to a symbol so it appears across the site.

What visitors see

Did it work? A small hex button sits where you pasted the line. Tapping it opens your question, the visitor picks an option, and the running result appears immediately. No reload, no login, no email.

When not to use us

If you want the results inside a Webflow CMS collection so they can drive the page itself, build it natively. Our results live in our dashboard and export, not in your CMS.

We would rather tell you that here than have you find out after setting it up. If that describes what you need, the app or plugin route in the table above is the better call.

Common questions

Does it work in the Designer?

Embed elements render a placeholder in the Designer. Use Preview or publish to a staging domain to see the real thing.

Can I put it in a symbol or component?

Yes, and that is the neat way to get it on many pages at once. Every instance shares the vane id, so they share one tally.

Will it break my Webflow interactions?

No. It renders inside its own element and does not touch your classes or the interaction engine.

What about a Collection page?

Put the Embed on the Collection page template and every item gets the vane. If you want a separate tally per item, add a plain text field for the vane id and bind it.
